Top 10 Electric Cars With The Longest Range-2023

Electric Cars With The Longest Range

There are 10 electric cars with great driving ranges, but choosing the right one depends on your lifestyle and daily commute. If you drive less than 10 miles a day, any electric vehicle should work. The list of cars may change every six months as driving ranges improve.

Critics often compare the average driving range of electric vehicles to that of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. While the average range of ICE vehicles has remained stagnant for almost a decade, the range of electric vehicles continues to grow impressively each year. Our top 10 list ranks electric vehicles solely based on their EPA estimated ranges, which is the strictest testing procedure. The first four cars on our list have driving ranges in the 320-mile to 360-mile range bracket, and driving style could impact the ranking of these vehicles. Other noteworthy mentions include the Cadillac Lyric, BMW i7, Kia EV6, and Nissan Ariya.

If you're looking for an electric vehicle with a range of approximately 300 miles, there are many choices available on the market. However, if you're searching for the longest-range electric vehicle, be prepared to spend at least $88,000 on a Tesla Model S. It's important to note that all the electric vehicles listed are readily available for purchase and driving today, and not just models with reservations for future release.

1# Lucid Air Dream- 520 Miles (838km):

Introducing the Lucid Air Dream Edition, the longest-range electric car currently available. With an impressive range of 520 miles, this car is a true Trailblazer in the world of extended electric ranges. The Dream Edition was the first version of the Lucid Air to hit the market, albeit in limited quantities. Vava'u Environmental Protection Association (VEPA) has verified that this car can achieve an impressive 520 miles per charge, breaking through the 500-mile range threshold and setting a new record. It outperforms the previous reigning champ of electric ranges by a whopping 100 miles. While models are available for purchase, it's important to note that wheel size can impact the range. The remarkable range of 520 miles is associated only with models fitted with aerodynamic 19-inch wheels. Opting for a model with 21-inch wheels will result in a maximum range of around 450 miles. At present, the Lucid Air Dream Edition is unrivaled as the longest-range EV you can currently buy in America.

2# Lucid Air Grand Touring- 516 Miles (830km):

Coming in at second place is the Lucid Air Grand Touring, which boasts an impressive range of 516 miles. Lucid goal was to shake up the electric car industry with the launch of the Air, and they certainly succeeded with the introduction of the Dream Edition a year later. Following up with the Grand Touring variant, Lucid continues to impress with a VEPA-rated range of 516 miles. These two models now hold the title of the highest-range electric cars available on the market. Lucid sweetens the deal even further by offering a home charger capable of adding 80 miles of range per hour. This only adds to the appeal of Lucid electric vehicles for those who can afford them.

3# Tesla Model S- 405 Miles (652km):

Our third-ranked car is the Tesla Model S, which has an impressive range of 405 miles. Despite being around for over a decade, this car still holds its place in the top three, which is truly remarkable. The base configuration of the Model S can achieve a range of 405 miles, making it an excellent value for money, especially after a recent price reduction. If you're willing to sacrifice only nine miles of range, you can upgrade to the blazingly fast Model S plaid version, which has left many high-end supercars in the dust on straight roads and is almost at the pinnacle of automotive engineering.

4# Hyundai Ioniq 6-361 Miles (581km):

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is a strong contender for the fourth spot in the upcoming car discussion, boasting an impressive range of 361 miles. This marks a significant moment in the industry, as Tesla and Elon Musk have consistently held the title for longest-range electric cars for years. However, it was only a matter of time before a long-established car manufacturer caught up, and that moment finally arrived with the unveiling of the Ioniq 6. Not only is it competitively priced in the same league as the Model 3, but it also outperforms in almost all other aspects. The Ioniq 6 combines the benefits of long-range electric driving with commendable build quality. While its design may spark debates, it underscores the vital role aerodynamics play in the age of electric vehicles. The optimal configuration for the Ioniq 6 is the rear-wheel drive model paired with a 77.4 kilowatt hour battery, earning it the bronze medal.

5# Tesla Model 3- 358 Miles (576km):

The Tesla Model 3 takes fifth place with an impressive range of 358 miles. The long-range version of this model has held the title of one of the longest-range electric cars in the affordable range for quite some time. Despite the challenges faced by Tesla, there is no denying that the Model 3 is still a desirable purchase and has had a significant impact on the automotive industry. While the Model S initially grabbed attention, it was the Model 3 that pushed traditional car manufacturers to accelerate their efforts in the electric vehicle race. If you're planning to buy a Model 3, you may want to wait as a refreshed version with an even longer range is expected to arrive soon, making it an even more impressive choice.

6# Mercedes-Benz EQS- 350 Miles (563km):

In the sixth spot, we have the Mercedes-Benz EQS sedan. It offers an impressive range of 350 miles. If you're interested in the EQS 584 Matic, you'll get a powerful 516 horsepower engine and a driving range of 340 miles. However, the EQS falls slightly short of the Model X's range. Therefore, if driving range is your top priority, the rear-wheel-drive EQS 450 Plus may be the better choice. Even though the 450 Plus only generates 329 horsepower, it has a standard range of 350 miles, which edges past the Model X by a significant two miles.

7# Tesla Model X-348 Miles (559km):

The Tesla Model X is ranked number seven and has an impressive range of 348 miles. Although there is no specific long-range option for this model, both available models surpass Model Y in terms of range. You can choose between the dual motor version, which can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds and has an EPA-confirmed range of 348 miles. Alternatively, you can opt for the Model X Plaid, which has incredible power and can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 2.5 seconds, competing with many supercars. Despite its high-performance tri-motor setup, the Plaid still manages to have a respectable range of 333 miles. As of the creation of this video, the Model X holds the title for the electric SUV with the longest range. However, it's important to note that software updates could potentially change the maximum range claims, so it's best to stay informed of any updates.

8# Tesla Model Y-330 (531km):

The Tesla Model Y takes the eighth spot on the list, boasting a range of 330 miles. This popular model is Tesla's top-selling car, highlighting the appeal of its chic crossover body style. Although the long-range version of the Model Y falls short of the Model 3 sedan's range by 28 miles, consumers seem willing to make this trade-off for the sleeker crossover design. Sacrificing those extra miles may be a small price to pay for the attention-grabbing appeal of the Model Y in your neighborhood.

9# Rivian R1T- 328 Miles (528km):

Ranking at number nine is the Rivian R1T, with an impressive range of 328 miles. Rivian caused a stir in May 2023 when they announced that the Maxpack Dual Motor R-1T would be available to customers by August of the same year. The US-based automaker claimed that this model had a striking range of 400 miles, but this has yet to be officially validated. Therefore, we're betting on the Rivian R1T Launch Edition, which is equipped with a powerful 835 horsepower quad motor setup and powered by a mid-tier. 135-kilowatt-hour battery with its 21-inch wheels and low-resistance tires, it can travel a range of 328 miles. Interestingly, this specific configuration is the only one that has undergone EPA testing. The R1T with a dual motor setup and a mid-tier battery is projected to offer an even more impressive driving range, theoretically speaking. Nonetheless, it still holds the title of the longest-range electric truck currently available on the market. Rivian also sweetens the deal with its Adventure Network, which is a real plus for those who enjoy exploring. GMC claims that the Hummer EV can travel up to 329 miles, but its hefty 9,000-pound curb weight exempts it from formal VEPA testing procedures, leaving the claim unverified.

10# BMW IX- 324 Miles (522km):

BMW IX - the balance between performance and range. For example, the IX M60 is an impressive vehicle with 523 horsepower, but its range is lower compared to its more subdued counterpart, the long-range xDrive 50. The xDrive 50, on the other hand, has 516 horsepower and a commendable driving range of 324 miles. Whether you like its aesthetics or not, BMW has created a fantastic package. Once you're inside the car and experiencing its performance, the exterior appearance becomes less important.

There may have been several supercars powered by V12 engines and breaking at 200 km / h on an average road, but BMW has gone a different route with super and cool concept cars that made it to production (2007-2011 1).
